Meet Our Team
Dr. Paula Strauss, PsyD
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Habit-Reversal Training and Social Skills group facilitation. I believe effective therapy is both supportive and practical -- offering a safe space for healing while also providing concrete tools for change. At the same time, no one knows you better than yourself, and part of my role is to help clients tune into their inner wisdom and sense of knowing.
I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology from Alliant International University, CSPP-Los Angeles, an APA-Accredited program in 2012. My pre-doctoral training was at Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles (CHLA), Los Angeles Job Corps, and Southern California Counseling Center. I completed my post-doctoral training at two diverse sites: The Village Family Services, a community mental health clinic in North Hollywood, CA, and Rich & Associates, a premier private practice in Westwood, CA. These experiences gave me the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients and clinical presentations, strengthening both my evidence-based skills and my ability to adapt therapy to fit each client’s unique needs. In addition to my clinical work, I have held supervisory and training roles at New Beginnings Counseling Center in Santa Barbara, CA. I also served for two years on the Board of the Santa Barbara County Psychological Association.
Outside of work, I’m a mom to two kids and a Bernedoodle named Reese, who often joins me at the office. I love hiking Santa Barbara’s trails, practicing yoga, listening to podcasts, and learning meditation with patience, curiosity, and humor.
